Concert Addiction's sole purpose is to be the one stop place for all things need to know about all things live music and to create an online community for concert addicts like me! Started as just a facebook page, now I'm trying out this website thing. I am active on YouTube as well, posting daily content discussing all the latest concert news and I am in the process of getting a weekly podcast up and running.
Not going to lie, I've been through some shit in my life. Low times and dark places, but I have never failed to find an escape with live music. To me, there is nothing like being in the environment of a concert. Being one of a thousand people who worked all week just to be there, screaming and shouting at the top of our lungs, singing every word (or discovering new found favorites) moshing, crowd surfing (depending on the show) and just feeding off of the energy of everyone else there. There is nothing else like it.
I attended my first concert I when was just 8 years old. My mom took me to see Alan Jackson and Joe Nichols at Cheyenne Frontier Days and 15 years later, I still remember it, vividly. A truly life changing experience. Since then, I've seen over a hundred notable bands live at over a hundred concerts and 5 festivals with no plans on slowing down. Best part is, I enjoy almost every genre of music, so I don't have to wait for a band I like to come by, and maybe only go to a couple shows a year because I enjoy almost all live shows, no matter who's playing or what genre. I don't even have to of ever heard of the artist. If there's a show and I'm free, I'm there. Of course I have my favorites, old and new country and old and new rock, but I've been in the crowd for a partial NWA reunion, sat front row at Fall Out Boy and seeing Hans Zimmer or John Williams has always been on my bucket list.
Aside from music, my other main passion has almost always been media. I'm a huge news junkie and I love writing and expressing my views and opinions. I also did the YouTube thing a little while ago and had a blast doing it. I recently completed the radio program at the Academy of Television and Radio Broadcasting learning all about the ins and outs of the music industry from the aspect radio. My hope with this is to combine my passions and forge myself a dream career in music media and journalism, but for now this is just a really fun hobby.
There are several sites out there that report on live music, but the majority are bound to one specific genre. I however, plan on doing my best to report from all corners of the live music world. If all goes as planned, I hope one day to really grow this thing into something incredible, but for the time being it will just remain my little passion project. So with that being said, at the current time this is a solo venture. I do however, hope to start bringing on other people as this hopefully grows, but like I said, for the time being it is just me. I will do my best to keep pumpin out stories between my real life job and my addiction to live music!-Johnny K
